VICTORIA HALF COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

SWIM

The swim takes place at Elk Lake, which has hosted triathlon training and events since the late 1970’s while also serving as the home of the National Rowing Centre.  The swim starts and finishes at Hamsterly Beach with a rolling start and consists of a single loop that is well marked and easy to sight.  The water conditions are normally flat with a water temperature of approximately 23C and wetsuits are normally permitted.

BIKE

The bike route takes participants on a beautiful tour of the Saanich Peninsula through rain forests, ocean side roads and local municipalities.  The rolling course offers a west coast island experience with picturesque views of Haro Strait, the Coastal Mountains, and Saanich Inlet.  The course is well marked and controlled by race marshals, local police and professional traffic control.
